How businesses support local communities as part of their CSR

Many businesses throughout Northern Ireland are actively involved and engaged in helping their local communities. This will be part of their Corporate Social Responsibility policy which includes how it intends for the business to try and benefit society.

Many businesses in Northern Ireland support their local communities by:

  • Giving money to local projects to build playgrounds or develop sporting facilities

  • Donating and raising money for charities like St Vincent de Paul or Simon Community

  • Supporting local enterprises with funding, mentoring, marketing

  • Allowing charities to collect donations in their premises eg bag packing in supermarkets

  • Setting up voucher schemes for schools, local teams, youth clubs for help with providing equipment

  • Mentoring students in local schools to help with their career decisions

  • Providing work experience placements to support young people in their career decisions

  • Funding scholarship programmes for apprenticeships for graduates or school leavers

  • Sponsoring local or school teams by providing kits and/or equipment
