A relationship is a connection that a person has with another person. Most people have many different relationships like with friends, family, acquaintances, teachers, employers.
Having a positive relationship with friends can have significant effects on a young person's self-confidence, for the following reasons:
Having a relationship with friends gives the young person a sense of belonging with people who share the same interests.
Having a relationship with friends helps a person's self-confidence as they feel they are in a group of friends who accepts them and tolerates them for who they are and do not laugh at them, or try to change them.
Having a relationship with friends helps a young person’s self-confidence as they feel they have a support mechanism that can help them with family problems, school issues, girlfriend/boyfriend issues.
Having a relationship with friends builds trust that they know they can turn to their friends anytime and their friends will be there for them.
Having a relationship with friends develops commitment with people who will help them through good times and bad times.
Depending on the activities their friends are involved in, the young person may become more active in the church, fund-raising for good causes and develop a sense of self-worth and self-confidence. Mutual respect would also grow between the friends.
