The UK Government signed the Convention in 1990 and it came into force in the UK in 1992. Any government that signs this document is promising to ensure that they work towards ensuring children are protected and their human rights are upheld. The purpose of the UNCRC is to ensure the survival, protection and development of children. This has helped to shape policies and laws that relate to children in the UK and the rights they are entitled to.
